“I got my first camera when I was around 14 years old. I started with landscapes. Now, it mostly pulls me into the urban centers.

From 2019 till 2021 I lived in San Francisco. I was engaged with and fascinated by those aspects that divided the local society and the others that united it.

During that time I heard about a young non-profit organization called “Third Parent Family”. I fell in love with the spirit and joined them shortly after. Providing families with food, week after week, all over the Bay Area.

“Where I am from, the model ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ stood true. Our families stepped up and took care of each other.” one of the two founders once told me.

As a student at the City College of San Francisco and member of the college’s magazine staff, I would end up writing an article on them, providing text and photos. Later on, that article ‘It takes a village’ was published and awarded first place for the best Magazine Photo Story-Essay by the JACC in their 2021 State (California) Publication Award.

During my time in the US I attended classes in sociology, photography, journalism, art and design and met other artists. That and the overall presents of art and street art in San Francisco triggered a wave of inspiration and drive in me to create and learn. Also beyond the traditional educational pathways.

I decided to return back to Germany for some time, for the realization of a start-up project and to intensify my focus on interdisciplinary art making.”
